BLACK & BLUSH STYLED BRIDAL SHOOT

Our Church Studio is still available as a venue for wedding ceremonies but this styled bridal shoot took place in our Drive-In photographic studio. Photographer Lindie Meyer took advantage of the seasonal nature of photography in Cape Town and how in winter you get the chance to sink your teeth into creative projects like this one.

Explaining the rationale behind the shoot Lindie said, “I got the idea for this shoot while browsing Pinterest and saw a beautiful editorial of a model wearing an over the top black wedding dress. I had the idea do a shoot with two very contrasting ‘personalities’ – The Dark Bride & The Blush Bride. Our dark bride is really edgy, and really doesn’t care about what is traditionally regarded as beautiful, she lives live to the beat of her own drum but doing it with such ease. For this ELLE photo shoot, senior fashion editor Tarryn Oppel shows us how to go back to basics when dressing for the season ahead. “Iconic staples effortlessly exude comfort, while creating a sense of functional femininity – it’s time to introduce yourself to the new season,” she says. Inspiration for shoot?

I was inspired by the rise of minimalism, androgyny, paired back design and classic staples to tie in to our iconic August issue. The idea of not forcefully dressing like a woman to feel like a woman is the here and now!
