HOW TO WEAR LEATHER

In the August issue of ELLE, junior fashion editor Nicole Newman shows you how to wear leather. As always we share the behind-the-scenes action from the shoot with backstage photos courtesy of ELLE style reporter Niquita Bento and a video of the action in our Church Studio.

ELLE junior fashion editor Nicole Newman explains a little more about the shoot.

Inspiration?

Leather was all over the runway for A/W 2013 and it has been carried over into S/S 14 as one of the biggest trends for the season. Whether it’s lasercut, head-to-toe or incorporating leather separates into your look, it’s definitely a trend to try.

Model?

Our model was Laura Scott from Fusion – she was perfect for the shoot as she had high energy and an outgoing personality, which is what we were looking for. We wanted to show the sexy aspects of leather along with the power that the modern woman has today.

Hair?

Jeanette Genis was on hair and in order to keep the shoot sleek and the looks modern, we opted to do two braids, keeping it fresh and simple.

Highlight of shoot day?

The model definitely made the shoot for me – she was incredibly interesting and full of life and personality. She gave so much energy to each shot and watching her and Justin Polkey work was really amazing.
