We know that it can be stressful to pull all the strings to pull a…
In their first locally shot cover for 2015, ELLE Magazine SA photographed the stunning Brazilian twins Suzane and Suzana Massena, wearing knitted twinsets from Maxhosa by Laduma. Labelled the #SisterhoodIssue they decided to shake things up a little and shoot the cover on home turf, which was our Church Studio in Woodstock.
ELLE’s junior fashion editor Nicole Newman had this to say about the shoot:
Why did you choose to shoot Suzane and Suzana Massena for the cover?
We chose to shoot the Massena twins because this was our sisterhood issue, and we wanted to convey something of the emotion and bond between sisters and friends.
Hair and make-up?
We decided to embrace their natural hair and keep their Afros – stylist Kevin Epstein differentiated their hair slightly but the girls are identical, so it’s really difficult to tell! For the make-up, we wanted a vibrant and punchy look for the cover; make-up artist Algria Ferreira suggested a tangerine lip to add extra oomph.
What did the photographer bring to the cover?
Kristen-Lee Moolman shot the cover and she was as excited about it as we were and I think this comes through in the look, feel and energy of the cover shot.
Our Church photographic studio is 200m2 (18 x 11m) with a 5.5m x 6m x 7m high infinity curve as well as a dedicated make-up room making it perfect for a fashion shoot like this. Not to mention the sound system with iPod dock and free Wi-Fi so you can share those behind the scenes from your shoot.
